The Alta Guajira Desert Tour is a dynamic and eventful trip that will make us get to know Alta Guajira. A desert region that offers an extraordinary landscape of strong colors and contrasts, such as the sand dunes that plunge directly into the Caribbean Sea.

We begin our Alta Guajira Desert Tour, with a visit to the city of Bogotá and the beauty of its surroundings with two excursions to Zipaquirá. Where the Catedral De Sal is located, a suggestive cathedral built in a salt mine and to the Laguna De Guatavita, where The legend of El Dorado was born.

Our tour in the Alta Guajira desert starts from Riohacha, passing through Cabo De La Vela with the Pilon De Azucar and Playa Dorada, to Punta Gallinas with the Taroa Dunes, where we can become children and jump from the dunes that plunge directly into the Caribbean Sea.

To finish the Alta Guajira Tour, with the colorful and fascinating Bahía Hondita. We continue with Tayrona Park, to finish visiting Santa Marta with a full-day in Playa Blanca.

1° DAY / Bogotá:

Arrival at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá in the afternoon, where our assistants will be waiting for us. after the airport formality, we headed abroad for the transfer in private and comfortable vehicles to the La Candelaria sector (duration 20 minutes approx.), at the San Francisco De Asís hotel a short distance from the historic center, always very crowded until late at night with a selection of restaurants and nightclubs where you can dine (free not included) or relax in one of the many typical restaurants in the city, and then return to the hotel.

2° DAY / Bogotá - Zipaquirá - Bogotá:

fter breakfast, we head north of Bogotá to reach Zipaquirá, a small town (duration 1 hour approx.), To reach the Catedral De Sal, a cathedral built inside a salt mine, considered one of the works most important artistic and architectural structures in Colombia. The salt and marble sculptures create a unique atmosphere that attracts many tourists and religious. At the exit we refresh ourselves in the kiosks of the panoramic terrace and return to Bogotá (duration 1 hour approx.), Lunch (free not included) in one of the typical restaurants on the way back, to arrive in Bogotá early in the afternoon and have the time to visit Monserrate accessible by cable car or funicular where we can have dinner (free not included), enjoying the sunset and the panoramic view.

3° DAY / Bogotá - Laguna De Guatavita - Bogotá:

After breakfast, we headed back to the north of Bogotá, but this time to get to Guatavita (duration 1 hour and 30 minutes approx.), We hardly left the city, after a few kilometers we reached the starting point for a little trekking to the Laguna De Guatavita. (duration 40 minutes approx), where the legend of El Dorado began, lunch (free not included) in one of the typical restaurants on the way back, to arrive in Bogotá in the afternoon, but this time to visit the Museo Del Oro , the Botero Museum and the adjacent De La Moneda Museum, dinner (free not included) in one of the many typical restaurants in the Old Town.

4° DAY / Bogotá - Riohacha:

After breakfast, we go to the El Dorado national airport in Bogotá (duration 20 minutes approx.), To take the flight Bogotá-Riohacha (duration 1 hour and 40 minutes). Upon arriving at the Riohacha airport, our 4×4 Jeep will be waiting to take us to the Plaza Roma hotel in the center of the city, we will settle in the rooms and we will go to the Malecón, where the Wayúu or Guajiros Indigenous people sell their handicrafts. Lunch (free not included) based on fresh fish and return to the hotel in the afternoon. At night we went out to dinner (free not included) and to end the night somewhere with Caribbean music and a cold beer. Return to the hotel late at night.

5° DAY / Riohacha - Cabo De La Vela:

Early in the morning, our Jeep 4X4 will be waiting for us to begin our adventure in Alta Guajira. We head north and after a few hours we arrive in Uribia, while the jeep loads fuel we can take advantage of it to do some small purchases. We resume our trip to arrive before lunch time in Cabo De La Vela (duration 2 hours approx.), Arriving at Pilón De Azúcar, to enjoy its wonderful panorama and a refreshing bath. Then we visit Arcoíris Beach and go to the Sau Ipa Refuge, where we settle in the rooms and have lunch (included). In the afternoon we visit Playa Ojo De Agua to take a bath and relax on the beach. At the end we moved to the lighthouse to enjoy a spectacular sunset. We return to the Sau Ipa Refuge in the late afternoon for dinner (included) and end the night.

6° DAY / Cabo De La Vela - Punta Gallinas:

Early in the morning after breakfast, we resume our trip in Alta Guajira, there will be many kilometers to do but the landscape is fascinating. Following the tracks in the desert we arrive at the Dunes of Taroa, where we can return like children and jump from the top of the dunes that end directly in the sea. Then we headed to the lighthouse where the northernmost point of South America is located. We resume the trip to get to Punta Gallinas at Hospedaje Alexandra, we settle in the rooms and have lunch (included). In the afternoon we will take a boat trip to visit the emerald green lagoon surrounded by the mangroves of Bahía Hondita. Return for the Alexandra Lodging, for dinner (included) based on fresh lobster and finish the night.

7° DAY / Punta Gallinas - Riohacha - Parque Tayrona:

Early in the morning after breakfast, we started the trip back, we will stop on the way to admire once again this magical landscape to get to Uries towards lunchtime (included), to continue immediately after to Manure, where we will visit salina. Then return our trip back to Riohacha where you will be waiting for us a vans to take us to the Zaino, entrance to the Tayrona Park (3 hour duration approx.), From there a Vans del Park will take us to the Ecohal Yachay Tayrona (duration 5 minutes approx. ), A wonderful structure with all the amenities in pure Caribbean style and terraces with a spectacular view of the park, we settled in the rooms and finally we can relax waiting for the dinner immersed in the vegetation of the Tayrona Park.

8° DAY / Parque Tayrona:

After breakfast, we go with the park vans to Cañaveral (duration 15 minutes approx.), And from there we continue walking along the park trails and arrive at Playa Arrecifes and continue to Cabo San Juan Del Guía passing through Playa La Gaviota, Playa La Arenilla and Playa La Piscina, we have lunch (free not included) in a restaurant on the beach based on fresh fish. In the afternoon we arrive at Cabo San Juan Del Guía, we settle in the Mirador and relax on the beach. Dinner (free not included) at the restaurant on the beach, in the afternoon we can retire to the Mirador where we will spend an exciting night in a hammock with a suggestive panorama of the beach of Cabo San Juan Del Guía.

9° DAY / Parque Tayrona - Santa Marta:

After breakfast, we relax on the beach or we can explore the surroundings in search of other more secluded beaches. Lunch (free not included) at the beach restaurant and in the afternoon we take the Public Boat that will take us to Playa Taganga (duration 1 hour approx.), Where a van will be waiting to take us to Santa Marta (duration 20 minutes approx.). We settled in the Nueva Granada hotel, a comfortable structure, with a colonial-style pool, near the promenade and the historic center of the city. As soon as we settle into our rooms, we can freely go out to the city that is always overcrowded, but never chaotic, to do some shopping and visit the Basilica De La Catedral and the Casa De La Aduana, regional headquarters of the Museo Del Oro Tayrona. At night we go out to participate in the movement of Santa Marta, we have many options in terms of restaurants and typical places. I return to the hotel late at night.

10° DAY / Santa Marta - Playa Blanca - Santa Marta:

After breakfast, we go a few kilometers from Santa Marta to go to Playa El Rodadero (duration 15 minutes approx.), We arrive at the pier, embark and arrive at the Rodadero Sea Aquarium and Museum, (duration 10 minutes approx. ), where we can observe sharks, turtles and many varieties of fish, we see the dolphin show and visit the museum, at the end we embark again to get to Playa Blanca (duration 10 minutes approx.), we have lunch (free not included), In one of the many typical kiosks we serve fried fish and we spent the rest of the day on the beach, returning to Santa Marta at the end of the afternoon at the hotel. At night we go out again through the streets of the center, the pleasantly mild climate, accompanied by the breeze from the Sierra Nevada, makes the afternoons outdoors even more magical. I return to the hotel late at night.

11° DAY / Santa Marta - Bogotá:

After breakfast, we go to the Simón Bolívar de Santa Marta national airport to take the Santa Marta-Bogotá flight (duration 1 hour approx.), Where our assistants wait for us for the departure of the international flight that will take us back.
