COLOMBIAN AMAZON TOUR LETICIA 12 NIGHTS

Sail in the Amazon region of Colombia with an adventurous and exciting trip on the Amazon River, its tributaries and lakes that pay tribute to its exceptional flow of water. Trip full of close encounters with wild animals and ethnic groups that populate the communities of the region.

To start, a visit to Bogotá and its beauties from the colonial era, visiting La Candelaria where the museums and buildings of that era are located. Therefore, we will make two excursions, to Zipaquirá, where the Catedral De Sal is located, a suggestive cathedral built in a salt mine and to Villa De Leyva, a small town but of great historical importance that fully preserves the architecture of the time colonial.

We reach the extreme tip of the Colombian Amazon, Leticia, where the borders of Colombia, Brazil and Peru meet with an excursion on the Yavarí River. In addition, we sail to Puerto Nariño, passing through the Isla De Los Micos and the Community of Macedonia to Lake Tarapoto. Finally, Santa Marta and Cartagena, two splendid cities on the Colombian Caribbean coast.

1° DAY / Bogotá:

Arrival at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá in the afternoon, where our assistants will be waiting for us. after the airport formality, we headed abroad for the transfer in private and comfortable vehicles to the La Candelaria sector (duration 20 minutes approx.), at the San Francisco De Asís hotel a short distance from the historic center, always very crowded until late at night with a selection of restaurants and nightclubs where you can dine (free not included) or relax in one of the many typical restaurants in the city, and then return to the hotel.

2° DAY / Bogotá - Zipaquirá - Bogotá:

fter breakfast, we head north of Bogotá to reach Zipaquirá, a small town (duration 1 hour approx.), To reach the Catedral De Sal, a cathedral built inside a salt mine, considered one of the works most important artistic and architectural structures in Colombia. The salt and marble sculptures create a unique atmosphere that attracts many tourists and religious. At the exit we refresh ourselves in the kiosks of the panoramic terrace and return to Bogotá (duration 1 hour approx.), Lunch (free not included) in one of the typical restaurants on the way back, to arrive in Bogotá early in the afternoon and have the time to visit Monserrate accessible by cable car or funicular where we can have dinner (free not included), enjoying the sunset and the panoramic view.

3° DAY / Bogotá - Villa De Leyva - Bogotá:

After breakfast, we head back to the north of Bogotá, but this time to go to Villa Di Leyva (duration 3 hours and 30 minutes approx.), A beautiful town that completely preserves the style of the colonial era. We walk through its narrow streets completely paved in stone, we visit the wide square where the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and the House of the Congress of the United Provinces are located. Lunch (free not included), through the streets of the town and leaving the center we cannot not visit the very particular Casa Terracota. We pass through Ráquira and Chiquinquirá on the return trip for a short visit to arrive in Bogotá in the afternoon. Dinner (free not included) and return to the hotel.

4° DAY / Bogotá - Leticia:

Early in the morning, we go to Bogotá’s El Dorado national airport to take the Bogotá-Leticia flight (duration 2 hours approx.), A small border city on the banks of the Amazon River. Arrived at the small airport, we go to the Madre Selva hotel (duration 10 minutes approx.), Long enough to settle in the rooms and we go to the river port of Leticia or Tabatinga, depending on the level of the river, we embark and begin to climb to the Amazon River, we reach the point where the three borders of Colombia, Peru and Brazil meet, passing through the Laguna De Gamboa to continue the navigation on the Yavarí River, where we can observe some Monkeys or some Sloths to reach the Zacambú Lagoon , where it will not be difficult to detect some dolphins that follow the wake of our boat. We stop for lunch (included), our guide will show us how to catch Piranhas and will show us the very special Rubber Trees. On the way back we will make a stop in the city of Benjamin Constant. Return to Leticia in the afternoon to go to Santander Park to observe the noisy return of the Loritos. We go out at night for dinner (free not included) in a typical Leticia restaurant, to return later to the Madre Selva hotel.

5° DAY / Leticia - Puerto Nariño:

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we go back to the river port of Leticia or Tabatinga, depending on the level of the river, we embark and start sailing on the Amazon River to Puerto Nariño, while we sail we will enter one of the channels to observe the Victoria Regia, the largest of all water lilies. We continue sailing and we arrive at the Island of the Monkeys, while we walk through the trails of the island the guide will show us the different species of monkeys that live there, without a doubt there will be close encounters and happy episodes that characterize them. At the end, we continue the navigation, we will make another stop in the Community of Macedonia, where we can buy some articles and observe their culture, arriving in time for lunch (included) in Puerto Nariño. We continue browsing, to arrive after a few minutes at the Eware Refugio Amazónico hotel. Dinner (free not included) at the hotel restaurant while we enjoy the sunset on the banks of the Amazon River.

6° DAY / Puerto Nariño - Lake Tarapoto - Puerto Nariño:

After breakfast, we embark to reach Lake Correo and Lake Tarapoto (duration 30 minutes approx.), Which is part of the Loretoyacu river basin, also paying homage to the great Amazon River. Lake Tarapoto is a popular destination for the presence of the pink dolphin or El Galan, as they call it here. Lunch (included), we return to Puerto Nariño and visit the Natutama Museum and the Naipata Viewpoint, to return to the hotel at night.

7° DAY / Puerto Nariño - Leticia:

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we go to the river port of Puerto Nariño to return to Leticia (duration 2 hours approx.). Upon reaching the river port of Leticia, we go directly to the Amazon World Park (duration 15 minutes approx.), To visit the Botanical Garden where we can observe medicinal plants such as Coca, Yagé, Barbasco, Sangregrado and others. We continue the visit with the park’s aquarium where there are more than 40 native species such as Piranhas, Macana, Carahuasu and others. We continue visiting the Cultural Village where we can practice with bow and arrows or throw darts with the blowpipe. Finally, we take a walk through the trails of the Amazon rainforest that has been reproduced in the park for its conservation. Lunch (included) and tasting of Amazonian Tea. In the afternoon we visit Maloca Huitoto where we can taste the Mambé, the crushed coca leaves or smell the typical Amazon tobacco called Rapé. At the end we go back to the hotel. At night we go out to dinner (free not included) and at the end return to the hotel.

8° DAY / Leticia - Bogotá - Santa Marta:

After breakfast, our vans will be waiting for us to transfer to the Vasques Cobo airport in Leticia (duration 10 minutes approx.), To take the Leticia-Bogotá flight (duration 2 hours approx.) And after a few hours the connecting flight Bogotá-Santa Marta (duration 1 hour approx.). Upon arrival we go to the Nueva Granada hotel. We settled into our rooms and went out to the downtown streets for dinner (free not included). I return to the hotel late at night.

9° DAY / Santa Marta:

After breakfast, we leave and dedicate the whole day to get to know the city, Santa Marta is the oldest city in Colombia, founded in 1525 by Rodrigo De Bastidas, which rests in the Basilica Cathedral, it is also a city of great historical importance, once was the last residence of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, so we visited the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino where he spent the last days of his life. Lunch (free not included) in one of the many typical restaurants in the center. In the afternoon we continue the visit to the city by taking a walk along the promenade to the Marina De Santa Marta, to return in the afternoon to the Nueva Granada hotel. At night we go out to dinner (free not included) and we continue the night in one of the many places in the center. I return to the hotel late at night.

10° DAY / Santa Marta - Tayrona Park - Santa Marta:

Early in the morning, after breakfast, our vans will be waiting for us for a transfer to El Zaino, entrance to Tayrona Park (duration 1 hour approx.), Where the park vans will take us to Cañaveral (duration 15 minutes approx.), and from there we walk through the park trails and arrive at Playa Arrecifes, but we can get to Cabo San Juan Del Guía through Playa La Gaviota, Playa La Arenilla and Playa La Piscina, we have lunch (free not included) in a restaurant in the beach with fresh fish menus. In the afternoon, if we feel like it, we can do a trekking to Chayrama, an ancient community of Tayrona Indians, now known as Pueblito (duration 1 hour and 30 minutes approx.), Which was a meeting point for artisans, farmers and fishermen, that in the small squares, they exchanged their goods to obtain public, civil and ceremonial services. 11° DAY / Santa Marta - Cartagena:

Early in the morning, after breakfast, our vans will be waiting for us for the transfer to Cartagena De Indias (duration 4 hours and 30 minutes approx.), We will arrive at the heart of the city just before lunch, at Getsemani, in La Casona De Getsemani, A few steps from the Walled City, a fortification built during the colonial era due to the continuous looting of pirates. Just the moment to sit in the rooms and we can immerse ourselves in the streets of this wonderful city of great historical importance with many buildings, symbol of colonial architecture, there are many things to visit and a guide is recommended to fully enjoy the beauty of each corner. Let’s immediately start the Castle of San Felipe De Barajas that is outside the Getsemani on the way back, we have lunch (free not included), to go out again to visit the Clock Tower, The Churches of San Pedro Claver and the Palacio De La Inquisition and return to the hotel in the afternoon. 12° DAY / Cartagena:

After breakfast, we can choose whether to freely walk around the city visiting the Bazurto Market, El Portal De Los Dulces and the Museo Del Cacao or participate in a Full-Day on Barú Island (free not included), spending the rest of the day in the beach with lunch (free not included) based on fresh fish. Return to Cartagena in the afternoon in time to walk to the city walls to enjoy the sunset and return to the hotel in the evening. Dinner (free not included), in one of the many restaurants in Getsemani, concluding the night in some of the local attractions of the Walled City, to return to the hotel late at night.

13° DAY / Cartagena - Bogotá:
